RNI LIVE TONITE WITH MISTER L

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Yes our VERY SPECIAL holiday weekend Extravagonzo will air on the Internet and perhaps elsewhere this evening, as your pally, John P. Lightning extends himself most graciously once more for another 3 rounds or thereabouts of talk and more radio with the free speech difference.

For those of you wondering why I have not answered your phone calls and e mails this week, it is rather easily explained… I’ve been on vacation and copped to being even lazier than usual.

I put virtually no time into setting up the new computers for air use, and instead spent my time goofing off, grilling copious quantities of meat products, masturbating furiously, hanging with my pallies and otherwise having a week that actually at times seemed just like a real vacation… SO THERE!

Otherwise we shall fake our way through another show with your telephonic and e mail assistance tonight at the usual listen links and frequently frequented frequency, with pre game hoopla kicking in about 7:30 Eastern time, with actual 11L Network programming to enhance your putrid existence rolling in about 8 PM.

REAL MUSIC RADIO

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Another fresh edition of pop-tacular music arrives at your Internet connection this PM when our homely, er, only Dave THE Boogie Man hard drives his way into your hearts and other body organs with GREAT MUSIC ignored by the corporate radio machine.

You are advised to make way for Dave starting at 8 PM Eastern time, at the usual links for your chance to make new musical friends you’ll wanna keep around! Pre Game nonsense begins about 7:30.

A TEST OF TOLERANCE

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

We have spent copious air time discussing one of the biggest non-issues of the year to date on the air, that being of course, the proposed Mosque or ‘Cultural Center’ a short walk from the two big holes in the ground that many considered sacred ground in downtown Manhattan, New York.

This scared ground is thought by many to be the result of the Islamic faith, so the idea that a place of worship for its adherents would be built so close approaches blasphemy for those so ideologically static.

I have expressed my view, that being, that I have no problem with a Mosque being constructed so close to ground zero. Sure I question the funding, those who may run it, and whether or not it will be a good neighbor, or have very loud speakers issuing forth Koranic readings at inappropriate hours, such as the one in my former neighborhood, which rendered sleep impossible for those within a few blocks of it.

That said, I have also expressed, to the consternation of some, my lack of love for Islam. While not a religious person at all, and in general am opposed to organized religion, I am fully not a fan of Islam, which in many respects, is obviously a rather intolerant, violent religion, based for many on the archaic Shariah laws that hard liners hold dear.

Christopher Hitchen’s latest article in Slate, covers similar ground, in his usual well defined and thought provoking manner. It, and the comments to it from readers of the column, make for a good read, and I suggest you use the link below to read it for yourself.

As always, your comments here, are hugely appreciated! Thanks!

TONIGHT ON 11L/RNI

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Tonight on RNI, your bumble servant returns with another three rounds of infotainment picked at its peak of freshness, and boy can I ever be fresh.

Although our ‘work in progress’ studio may or may not get us through another Extravagonzo without the screw ups, mistakes and the technical errors you have come to associate with RNI, we shall do our best to compell you to stay tuned for all three hours of radio from the center of my muddled mind.

The usual comedy, music and commentary about whatever caught my fancy this week will keep your medulla sufficiently occupied tonight, so please, tell a fiend or two what they’ve been missing, cancell any other superfluous and silly plans, and get comfy by the light of the old PC, or the shortwave machine (for your real antiques out there) as the A Little Bit Of Everything Radio Extravagonzo seizes control of the Internet and probably elsewhere, this evening at 8 PM Eastern, with pre game musical merriment commencing around 7:30.

As always your support is integral as without your listening and input, why should I bother? Open phones at about 9, so let’s hear from you, eh? (he says with extreme trepidation). Thanks in advance as silly as that may seem (and is).

Dave THE Boogie Man This Evening!

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

The master of musical mayhem, our very only Dave THE Boogie Man, returns to the 11L network and RNI this evening with another three rounds of essential music (and other odd items) commencing as per usual at 8:00 PM Eastern time.

Pre-Game tunage starts at 7:30. As always your attendance is mandatory, under penalty of having to endure old Johnny Lightning WJPL pirate radio tapes, and you don’t want that I assure you.

IT’S SEXY RADIO

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

It may not be quite as sexy as the image above, but nonetheless, prepare for the humbling experience that is the A Little Bit Of Everything Radio Extravagonzo, as your pally John P. Lightning takes to the airwaves and leaves his senses once more Sunday, August 8th, for another three hour romp through the back roads of radios communications highway, to entertain and inflame.

As always, if you love great talk radio… well, you’ll have to settle for what we do instead, but considering the admission fee, I’d be by my PC and other equipment this evening no later than 8PM Eastern Time, for the mix of commentary, comedy, music and your infernal telephonic interruptions, that defines what talk radio could be in a saner (or perhaps, sicker) society.

I’ll be keeping the attendance log and filling out your delaney card, so you best be here spachime! The pre game tunes start about 7:30 so get in line as our listener ports are limited.

Thanks!

ARCHIVED PROGRAMMING UPDATE

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

The World Famous 11L Archives?...er, no.

As some of you have pointed out, we have been a tad remiss in posting the audio of our most recent programs.

This was due to the usual ‘computer issues’ which left us wholly bereft of recordings of the shows.

Fortunately, our friend in the north country, J.D., bailed us out and supplied us airchecks from his personal collection so we will be able to post the shows, which, I less than humbly believe, our among our best work, and definitely worth your time to download or listen to on our stream.

I shall endeavor to post this Sunday’s program and the previous two Extravagonzons sometime Tuesday evening so you can hear what you missed and hopefully share the wealth with others who are unfortunately not in attendance every other Sunday. Help us grow our audience and tell a friend or twenty about what they’re missing.

And as always, please do leave your feedback on our endeavors at the comments link below, or E Mail the staff anytime at Johnplightning@aol.com.

BOOGIE TILL IT HURTS THIS SUNDAY

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

If it is Sunday, and Mr. Lightning is relaxing and drinking copious quantities of wine and watching some classic country videos on You Tube (but not past 8PM), you know it is time for our own Dave THE Boogie Man, and more of the powerful pop and more he exposes you to in our back alley here at 11L/RNI.

This week the legendary Barry Badman joins Dave at 7:25 (so Be EARLY PAL) to honor one of the most influential American born power pop pioneers — FRANK SECICH, bass player for BLUE ASH, THE STIV BATORS BAND and currently with THE DEADBEAT POETS.

Tune in for another educational and rockin’ session with Barry Badman and Dave the Boogieman this Sunday at 7:25 for a very special pre-show and the usual follow-up hijinks provided by Dave as he rolls out tune upon tune of top quality tunage that will become friends of your family after their exposure on Dave’s boogie down debacle, as heard at our listen links… only here… at Original Formula Radio NewYork International.

A LIVE AND ARCHIVES UPDATE FROM MR. L

WHERE KIDS DARE NOT BE

Due to the proverbial plethora of computer related agita, we have been a tad behind on getting our archived and streaming replays up and on line.

Our last full show of 7/11/10 was a persona favorite. Sadly, the computer problems that plagued the broadcast apparently caused the recording software to die about an hour into the show, so the bulk of the broadcast I’d so enjoyed doing and looked forward to sharing with you, is unavailable. Should anyone reading this have recorded the stream, please let me know as we are otherwise without a copy.

Our fill in live let’s play radio 10 PM hour last week which followed Brother Dave, will be posted on Monday. It was live, raw, unscripted fun and as most of you were AWOL for it, it will be here for the downloading.

We shall also post Dave THE Boogie Man’s program from the 4th of July which featured some excellent live in studio musicians. If you missed it, it will be available in 3 parts, the pre game show and the actual live program. It is a good one and I’d suggest that if you find that my taste and Dave’s musical tastes mirrors your own, it is a must have! We have done audio restoration on it to make it sound rather swell.

This week, The Extravagonzo will be all new and all live as usual. I’ve been cogitating on many things, but really feel like sharing some old New York stories and intend to do so.

Specifically, I shall ruminate randomly on my first time (if you know what I mean) and my love affair with Times Square, back when it was still worth visiting, at its peak of perdition and danger.

The pic at the top of our web post is of the old and long deceased ‘Cafe Metropole’, a randy jazz dive that welcomed, and ripped off tourist and celebrities alike.

An old mob hangout and often mob operated joint, it always had this inexplicable illicit allure and appeal to it that drew me to want to go there, however, I was a mere kidling then and my uncle who often bounced and tended to the door, never allow me entrance.

By the time I could have gone there, it was over. The club welcomed many a jazz great, and lots of wholly forgettable acts, as it swung hard with music everyday from noon until the wee hours.

It was also the site of one of the city’s more infamous, and earliest mob rub outs, some lost history we shall revive for your infotainment value this Sunday, as I find the lore rather fascinating, and expect you may too.

We take to the air here at Johnlightning.Com, and perhaps on your shortwave machine (check loco listings) at 8PM Eastern time. Our internet only pre game show of musical goodies begins about 7:30.

We shall sally forth on the net until 11 PM or so, unless I get tired, the listenership is small, or your telephonic response is typically sluggish. We have worked hard to restore the phone equipment to full functionality, and expect y’all to interact with us, as this is an integral part of the show.

The paucity of callers is one of the reasons why I continue to consider cutting back my programming ever further. Without listener input and feedback, this endeavor becomes less fun, less interesting, and there is less reason to put out… the effort that is!

So join us Sunday, July 25th, for a show we hope you will cherish for years to come, as we deliver the goods here on the world famous 11L Network. Original formula Radio NewYork International is what we provide, and all we ask in return is your phone and/or e-mail interaction. As someone use to say, “See you on the radio”.

BOOGIE MAN & FRIENDS TONIGHT

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

11L/RNI’s very only Dave ‘THE” Boogie Man, returns to the air from the Staten Island facility with two rounds of musical mayhem, before giving way to either dead air or open microphones featuring the usual idiots in drunken conversation until we decide we have had enough of y’all.

Be here from 8PM Eastern until whatever for Dave, and perhaps a very drunken Mr. L & his bigness!
