POP GOES THE BOOGIE MAN

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

While contemplating doing a bonus show this week, real life got in the way again. Fortunately our own Dave THE Boogie Man has done a fine job of filling in the otherwise blank spaces that every other Sunday would be, if not for his ongoing dedication to presenting great pop music and more that otherwise gets a short shrift from commercial and even most non-com radio.

That said, once more this PM, commencing with a pre game salute to the Late NY DJ icon Ron Lundy, Dave will enlighten you, with selections from his rather vast storehouse of musical treasures, and teach you a thing or two about the lost goodies and overlooked gems he loves. You shall love them too, once you have been exposed to them, so do yourself a favor tonight, and click the listen link below for Dave’s show.

The fun begins on 11L/RNI at 8PM Eastern Time, and concludes when Dave gets tired. I’ll see you all next week, until then, be sure to tune in and support one of the best music shows otherwise unavailable except here… at your public service stream for the best in music and talk, original formula Radio NewYork International.

SPRING ARRIVES TONIGHT!

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

No, it truly begins this evening, because that is when I, the Lightning guy, step up and out with another dose of reality radio here at JohnLightning.Com, home of Original formula RNI.

Yes, Tis time once more for a three hour exploration, a journey into the soft gray underbelly of broadcasting this evening when we embark upon our visit to views, ideas and opinions often unheard, that you know as THE A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING RADIO EXTRAVAGONZO.

Beginning at 8 PM EDT (with the usual pre game musical interlude at 7:30), Radio NewYork International will weave its luxurious sonic madness again, the protean, ever evolving confluence of talk, music and more, that makes us the highly unpredictable feast of  sounds, your PC or portable device would have no relevance without.

Please be sure to ben in that number of special some ones, when 11L/RNI puts the spring into your spring Sunday, 3/21/10.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This evenings pre game show will feature part of a live concert by BIG STAR featuring the late Alex Chilton in a 1974 concert courtesy our pally Dave THE Boogie Man. Use the link below for all the audio!

MONDAY TREAT

Monday, March 15th, 2010

One of my most used instrumental beds features the fine playing of Junior Watson. There are a few live versions of his rendition of The Hucklebuck that I call upon, and thanks to YOUTUBE, I now have a few more.

The version linked below, looks great, and sounds great too. Watch Junior set the standard for great playing and click on the link to kill 5 or so minutes with a smile on your puss.

IN SEARCH OF BOOGIE

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

You won’t have to search any further than our LIVE LISTEN LINK to hear another three hours of choice quality music, as our Master of Memorable Music that commercial radio has no time or taste for, DAVE ‘THE’ BOOGIE MAN, returns to regale your PC with the good stuff, commencing with his pre game festivities at about 7:30 Eastern Daylight Saving Time, and the usual mix of music and Dave’s curiously unbalanced comments and other stuff, are yours at 8:00 EDT.

I expect you to be in attendance, unless you are interested in meeting my pally Tony Spacheem, and his…er, associates.

A QUESTION FOR YOU

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Part of this weeks show will discuss not so much a particular topic, but the animus many display when the topic is breached by our broadcast, that topic being religion.

Yes, ‘they’ say one should never talk politics or religion in ‘mixed’ settings, and this is generally true or a good rule to be guided by when having a family get together and such.

My question to you, which you may answer by replying to this posting or by an e mail (the address: Johnplightning@AOL.COM) is simply this: Do you favor us discussing the topics of religion, faith, GOD and beliefs in general, or do you think we should eschew this ‘heavy’, controversial and often polarizing area of discussion?

A simple up or down vote as it were will do, or you may provide a more detailed response or you may register the equivalent of ‘present’.

I’d really like to ascertain whether or not the rationale for those who strongly object to such shows is based on their not wanting to hear comments disparaging of their beliefs, or contrary to their beliefs, or is it something else?

Your comments are most appreciated here, and hopefully also will be presented live this Sunday, all part of Americas best kept talk radio secret (Godamn it… er, so to speak), here at John Lightning.Com, home of original formula Radio NewYork International.

A CLASSIC

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

New York Post (or the New York Compost as it is known around these parts) cartoonist Sean Delonas, often critqued harshly around these parts, definitely got to me with this cartoon lampooning my states rather embattled and credibility challanged Governor, David Paterson.

I cannot tell a lie, when I saw this I started laughing out loud and for a while. Yes I am a sick SOB and I love this cartoon.

Meanwhile little bombs keep dropping that would be minor at best but his penchant for being disingenous when a little truth could have bailed him out is making him look mighty done these days.

Driven by the medias insatiable need for new political red meat, and his overall lack of competence, Paterson will probably be forced to go.

As far as race goes, sure it factors in here, but not significantly.

Yes, he is innocent until proven guilty, but he is surely guilty of being a mediocre govenor at best. If he goes now or at the end of his term, it will not be soon enough for someone I thought would be a worthy sucessor to Client #9. Truly a shame.
