A QUESTION FOR YOU
Part of this weeks show will discuss not so much a particular topic, but the animus many display when the topic is breached by our broadcast, that topic being religion.
Yes, ‘they’ say one should never talk politics or religion in ‘mixed’ settings, and this is generally true or a good rule to be guided by when having a family get together and such.
My question to you, which you may answer by replying to this posting or by an e mail (the address: Johnplightning@AOL.COM) is simply this: Do you favor us discussing the topics of religion, faith, GOD and beliefs in general, or do you think we should eschew this ‘heavy’, controversial and often polarizing area of discussion?
A simple up or down vote as it were will do, or you may provide a more detailed response or you may register the equivalent of ‘present’.
I’d really like to ascertain whether or not the rationale for those who strongly object to such shows is based on their not wanting to hear comments disparaging of their beliefs, or contrary to their beliefs, or is it something else?

Eschew,eschew,eschew the religion. I’ll be listening anyway but would rather listen to play by play of the Oscars,3 hours of Rufus,maybe some Allan Weiner bashing or you yelling at Big Steve rather than talk about the mythology of religions,If I wanted religion based humor I would listen to Brother R.G. Spend 3 hours talking about the various ways we can torture the just captured brain surgeon Azzam the American Asshole,even some of your lefty politics,just no religion. Or I will close the saddlebag.

I hear an enormous amount of Catholic bashing and it only annoys me when OTHER religions are not also bashed. It’s like those silly commercials where white guys are always made to look like fools and women and blacks are made to seem superior. Same thing in politics: don’t criticize one party only, they are all lousy (I am not saying the great Lightning does this, I am saying others do). So by all means you the great Lightning must bash away at everything. Nothing is sacred because everything made by humans is faulty. Castigate and scourge away ’cause that is what makes you and your show unique. Controversy is an important part of humour (like the seeing-eye dog resigning cartoon). It is only serious stuff that is really funny (death, destruction etc) light stuff is too silly to comment on in a humourous way, it’s just not funny enough for the likes of you (leave that kind of humour to the amateurs).
